i would prefer if someone can do the entire thing, but i am still pretty open to anything at the moment. so if someone specifically just does graphic work, that is ok.

There is a lot to be said for proper punctuation and spelling when you are displaying on the Internet. That's all I have to say about the site http://www.bortzimaginggroup.com.
:)
guybortz | Posted 6:58am 31. October 2001 Server Time |
Point Made.....
But please Keep in mind we are artist's,
not English majors :-)
Bcooper | Posted 8:14am 31. October 2001 Server Time |
Then, truth be told, I'd recommend you hire on an English Major. Take it from someone who has a business degree...you're losing business here.
A business who wants to be taken seriously will look at your splash page, say "hey, these guys are pretty decent with graphics", read your opening page, and say "there is NO way we're going to let these guys represent us."
It's nearly impossible to have all the strengths a business needs all in one or two people, and I'm in no way saying you guys aren't great at what you do, which is visual imagery. Still, if you want to do well, if you want to get ahead, I'd suggest finding an English Major who owes you guys a favor, have him do an edit-audit on your entire site, and take him out to a nice dinner for the trouble. If business picks up, you might just want to bring said English Major on board on a permanent basis.

Amen to that, Bob! I can't tell you how many times I've spotted spelling/grammar/punctuation errors on signs displayed in public places, newspaper ads, web sites, etc., and thought, "What idiot wrote that?" If you're going to put something before the public, make sure it's correct, because it definitely reflects badly on your business.
akeem | Posted 11:54pm 2. November 2001 Server Time |
hmmm... I didn't realize that clip-art pics of frogs made good bussiness profiles....
An advice, I would concentrate on getting the punctuation right and keeping the CASE LOW.
Don't take this the wrong way.. some of your graphics are quite good, but the layout of your web-presentations are..hmmm..to use the right word....bad!
Example: http://www.brackenpaving.com/
- That horrible yellow font-type and the black background..issj
hoangster | Posted 0:42am 5. November 2001 Server Time |
um..i'm not that good at graphic designs but i'm not bad either. you can check out my site at www.hoangster.com if you'd like. tell me what you think. i'm a lil curious. remember, i never said i was good but i'm not terrible u know :)

eric1973 | Posted 4:01pm 8. November 2001 Server Time |
I didn’t mean to start a thread of bashing on your work. I was just trying to make the point that if you are going to have something that is displayed for people to look at, you might want to make sure everything is correct. Especially when you’re trying to sell yourself.
A website is more than just graphics, in fact the majority of users could care less for if there was any graphics on most sites. Graphics are used to enhance a website, draw attention to the content, not to be the major draw of the website, in most cases.
guybortz | Posted 12:21am 14. November 2001 Server Time |
Hey now guys..... Don't hold back any, OK???

Yea I'd be interested in a paying job, I need a little cash for my holiday (or a meal at the least).
A recent personal development of mine at http://www.johncogan.net, err still in development but I didnt want to put a animated "Under construction" pic on it *grin*

Hey! C'mon guys... if we keep this up, we can celebrate the one-year aniversary for this post!! Yeehaaa Allright... to make this a little easier on you, I will post a statement that some may find somewhat provocative, and then we can keep this post going for another two months, ok??
Here goes: GRRRRRRRRR, aahhhhh... I truly HATE people that use crap like Frontpage and Dreamweaver and all those mumbojumbo wysiwyg-editors! Can't you learn to code properly?? Call yourselves webdevelopers and you can't even tell the difference between a <FORM> and a <TABLE>, and maybe you even call yourself a webdesigner and uses Paint Shop Pro or MS PhotoPaint or whatever those programs are called?? Get a life...

Truly a classic thread

Sojan | Posted 4:59pm 20. September 2005 Server Time |
Hey Frett, I am with you in a way. I learned to write HTML using a text editor way back in 96. Sausage Software's HotDog in fact. Now I just use notepad for all my HTML, CSS, and JavaScript needs. AS for graphics programs I am not a Photoshop guru by any means, but I do appreciate the oh so subtle differences between it and every other graphic application you mentioned...
Now back to hotwu's post. hotwu, what would you like for your sites to say about you and your business? I can do a full CSS layout that va;idates 508 and XHTML 1.0 Strict, and can design graphics around your specifications.
Sojan | Posted 5:14pm 20. September 2005 Server Time |
Plus, I am fairly local in that we're both in Wisconsin if that matters
