Client-side Scripting

Can anyone help me do some client-side processing using xmldom(remote scripting isn't working for me) and javascript.
Ex. lets say i have a "To" field on an email form. And as you start to type in the first few letters a div will popup and show you email addresses(grabs from a database) that start with those few letters you entered. I think i've seen this feature on aol.com but i'm not to sure cause i don't use aol.

did you ever get this to work? i'm sure it would be simple, but would depend on the size of the address list..
