.Net and ASP COM objects

Can i create a COM object(dll) using .NET and then us asp to call it. From what i understand you can create a COM object in any language - and then call it using asp.
If i can, could i get an example. What i want to do is create a class (using .net) to read POP3 email, then call it using classic asp.
How would i include a reference to class file(or DLL) without registering the COM. I don't think i would use "include file=...". |

you need to register it on the server. then its just like any other object in asp.
dim myObj : set myObj = createobject("yourobject.yourclass")

what if i can't register the com on the webserver (host doesn't let me, for ex.) is there another way

dont forget that .NET and classic asp apps run side by side so you could create a .NET emailing class that runs on a .aspx page and is linked from a classic asp page.

that's what you meant - what i'm trying to do is run a COM object in classic asp, that was created in .net. I'm trying to avoid using the aspx extension, but if it comes down to it i will use your method.
registering the DLL as thorpe suggested works fine but in that case i want to try and avoid registering the COM (host restrictions)
but thanks for your ideas suggestion either way

You have to register it to use it in a legacy enviroment. Also that is not very optimal either because then you are using interoperability which basically means .NET intrinsically will create a "COM Wrapper" so that it can be used which is extra processing you can take full effect of the native features be simply invoking a .aspx page. And since you don't have access to your host server then this appears to be your only way and its still a very viable solution.
